HOT MEALS DELIVERED TO COTTINGHAM CARE HOME BY DAUGHTER OF FORMER RESIDENT

Staff at Magnolia House care home in Cottingham have taken a surprise delivery of hot meals, arranged by the daughter of a resident who passed away in their care in 2019.

Hannah Hussain of Hull-based Peregrine Property, whose father passed away while in the care of Magnolia House in April 2019 previously delivered Easter eggs to the home’s 140 residents and staff. Now, through her company, she has arranged for takeaway-alternative, Pheast, to provide 25 hot meals to staff, paying tribute to their care for her late father and commitment as key workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Hannah said: “14 April was the anniversary of my dad’s passing and the current crisis seemed like the perfect time to give something back to the team at Magnolia House, who were so kind and caring in my dad’s final days.

“I’ve always intended to get involved with the fantastic work at Magnolia House, but my work commitments have got in the way over the past year so I’m glad to be able to support them now, during what must be a challenging time for care homes everywhere.”

Lindsay Altoft, manager of Magnolia House, added: “We were absolutely over the moon when Hannah brought in all the Easter eggs for residents and staff, and today’s tasty surprise was the icing on the cake!

“We’ve been bowled over by the support we have received from the community during the pandemic.

“Our top priority is the health and happiness of our residents and to date, we have no reported cases of the virus in our homes. It’s testament to the commitment of our staff who have been working round the clock to make sure our residents have all the care and support they need.

“Receiving treats like this are a wonderful boost for our team. Huge thanks to Hannah and the team at Peregrine Property!”
