LITTLE WEIGHTON CARE HOME THANKS COMMUNITY FOR ‘EMERGENCY’ AFTERNOON TEA SUPPLIES
The Manor House care home, in Little Weighton near Cottingham, has thanked the local community for a surprise delivery of freshly baked scones, fresh cream and jam.
The home, on White Gap Road, was gifted a hamper of the sweet treats, which was left on the home’s doorstep for staff and residents to enjoy.
Staff and residents at the home were thrilled to receive the gift from the members of the local community. One resident, 90-year old Eileen Legard, “couldn’t wait to tuck in!”
The home has since made a banner to say thank you, which has been displayed outside for all to see. It reads: “Big thank you to our neighbours for your care love and support. Please take care and keep safe. Carry on, eat scones and drink tea. Love, the residents.”
Eileen said: “When the carers told us that local people had baked fresh scones for us all, I couldn’t believe it. Everyone has been so kind to us, it won’t be forgotten.
“The scones were absolutely lovely; I couldn’t wait to tuck in!”
Leanne Hatch, home manager at The Manor House, said: “When we heard the knock at the door I thought, ‘who could this be?’ and I certainly wasn’t expecting to open the door to freshly baked scones!
“We would like to thank our local community for the bottom of our hearts! The scones were delicious and we all really appreciate your generosity.”
